Job Description 

As a Web Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services that power our health technology products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI engineers, frontend developers, and product managers, to build high-performance systems that meet the unique challenges of healthcare and AI-driven applications. 

Responsibilities 

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and modern frameworks such as Django and FastAPI. 

  • Build efficient data models and manage PostgreSQL databases, including query optimization, indexing, and complex schema design. 

  • Develop distributed task processing systems using Celery and Redis for event-driven architectures and high-throughput workloads. 

  • Deploy and manage cloud-based services on AWS (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, ECS). 

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless development and deployment processes. 

  • Collaborate on system architecture design with a focus on performance, scalability, and security. 

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices. 

  • Work with healthcare and AI-focused teams to integrate advanced analytics and machine learning services into backend systems. 

Qualifications 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields. 

  • 1+ year of backend development experience with Python. 

  • Strong proficiency in Django, FastAPI, Pydantic, asynchronous programming, and performance optimization techniques. 

  • Expertise in PostgreSQL, including complex queries, indexing strategies, and database design. 

  • Hands-on experience with Celery and Redis for building task queues, caching systems, and event-driven services. 

  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, ECS). 

  • Solid knowledge of Linux, Git, and Docker, with practical experience in containerization and orchestration. 

  • Experience with CI/CD workflows and modern DevOps practices. 

  • Strong system design skills and commitment to clean code and best practices. 

  • Prior experience in healthcare, health tech, or AI-related projects is a strong plus. 

Preferred

  • Knowledge of R language and ability to write R scripts. 

  • Familiarity with Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA). 

  • Experience integrating Python and Java services using REST, gRPC, or message queues.
