Louise Liu Named to Boston Business Journal's Prestigious 2025 "40 Under 40" List
The Boston Business Journal announced its 2025 “40 Under 40” honorees, recognizing emerging leaders in Greater Boston. Louise Liu, PhD, MBA, Chief Executive Officer of Hill Research, was selected for her work in artificial intelligence, biostatistics, and healthcare innovation within clinical trial design and execution.
Now in its 27th year, this recognition is among Massachusetts’ most prestigious for emerging leaders. Hundreds of nominations are submitted annually, yet only forty individuals are selected through rigorous review. Honorees are chosen for professional excellence, entrepreneurship, public service, mentorship, and community impact.
Background
Liu trained as a biostatistician at Yale University and holds fellowship status with the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Before founding Hill Research, she directed projects advancing statistical modeling, clinical trial design, and real-world data analytics. These experiences motivated her to establish a company dedicated to improving clinical research efficiency, inclusivity, and accessibility worldwide.
Hill Research Under Liu’s Leadership
Hill Research has become one of Boston’s prominent AI-driven healthtech companies under Liu’s leadership. Its proprietary platform uses generative AI and biostatistical algorithms to streamline clinical trial design and enable adaptive study management. The approach accelerates therapy development timelines while enhancing data integrity and patient representation.
Liu reflected on her achievement: “Boston is not just where I built my company, where I found a community that values science, creativity, and purpose.” She emphasized that leadership transcends personal achievement, focusing instead on creating lasting impact.
The 2025 Class
The 2025 class represents regional diversity across biotechnology, finance, sustainability, design, and civic leadership. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and State Auditor Diana DiZoglio issued official citations recognizing Liu’s contributions to health innovation and community impact.
A formal gala celebrating the honorees took place on October 24, 2025, bringing together business executives, civic officials, and nonprofit leaders.
