Hill Research at Takeda's Commonwealth of Innovation 250th Celebration
Hill Research’s Head of Finance CoCo Qu represented the company at Takeda’s Commonwealth of Innovation 250th Celebration, hosted by Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Economic Development Secretary Eric Paley at Takeda’s Fortis Hall in Lexington.
The Moment for Massachusetts
The room brought together the state’s life sciences leadership at a moment when Massachusetts is doubling down on its position as the world’s most concentrated biomedical innovation hub. Following the passage of the Mass Leads Act, the Commonwealth has reauthorized billions in life sciences funding and expanded its investment in AI for healthcare and health equity.
The conversation centered on what it takes to keep Massachusetts ahead as global competition for biomedical talent and capital intensifies.
Connections Made
A few of the people CoCo spent time with:
- Rhonda Pacheco, President of Takeda’s U.S. Business Unit and U.S. Country Head. Takeda is the state’s largest life sciences employer, and their MassNextGen work has been a meaningful piece of the state’s startup support architecture.
- Eric Paley, Massachusetts Economic Development Secretary and former Co-Founder of Founder Collective. Secretary Paley’s framing of his role — “tilling fertile soil for innovators” — is the right one for a state ecosystem strategy.
Why It Matters for Hill Research
The reason Hill Research was invited is the same reason we located our Boston office here in the first place. Massachusetts pairs the deepest life sciences talent pool in the world with a state government that treats biomedical AI as core economic infrastructure, not a side project.
That combination is rare and is what made it possible for us to build TriClick into a platform now serving 10+ global pharma sponsors from a Massachusetts base.
Thanks
Thank you to Governor Healey, Secretary Paley, Rhonda Pacheco, and the Takeda team for hosting. To CoCo for representing the company. And to the broader Massachusetts life sciences community for continuing to make this the place where this kind of company gets built.
Happy 250th, Massachusetts.
