Hill Research Exhibits and Sponsors JSM 2026 in Boston
Hill Research attended the 2026 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) as both an exhibitor and an official sponsor, hosting Booth 607 in the EXPO hall at the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston. The conference ran August 1 to 6, 2026 under the theme “Communities in Action: Advancing Society”; Hill Research staffed the booth from August 2 to 5.
At Booth 607
Hill Research came to JSM to talk with the people who do the work: clinical biostatisticians, statistical programmers, and the teams responsible for getting a submission out the door. Almost nobody wanted a brochure. What people wanted was a laptop turned toward them and a live look at how the work actually runs.
Hill Research also sponsored a Spotlight event on the EXPO floor — Whoopee for Whoopie Pie, held Sunday, August 2 at 3:30 p.m.
What We Heard
Across the week, three themes came up repeatedly in booth conversations.
Teams are past the question of whether AI can generate a clinical output. The question they now bring is how to prove that the output is right — who catches an error, how quickly, and how that gets recorded so a reviewer can follow the trail a year later.
The bottleneck people describe is rarely the model. It is governance, traceability, and sign-off: the surrounding evidence that makes a generated deliverable defensible.
And small biotechs and large pharma face the same evidence standard from very different starting points, with the same regulator at the end of the process.
Why It Matters for Hill Research
Hill Research works on the statistical programming and submission side of that problem, and the week’s conversations pointed at the harder half of it. Generating a table, figure, or listing is a solved-enough problem to demo; producing the audit trail that lets a reviewer reconstruct how it was produced is the part the industry is still building. That is where the platform work continues.
About JSM
The Joint Statistical Meetings is the largest gathering of statisticians in North America, held jointly by the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the Statistical Society of Canada, and other partner societies. It brings together statisticians and data scientists from industry, academia, and government for oral presentations, panels, posters, continuing education courses, and an exhibit hall. The American Statistical Association reports that JSM 2025 drew more than 5,000 attendees from 52 countries.
The EXPO hall is the meeting’s commercial and networking center, running from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. Boston is also Hill Research’s home city, which made JSM 2026 a chance to talk with the local biostatistics and life sciences community on home ground.
